GENERAL INFORMATION
AREAS
We have hunting rights on concession in the prime big game areas of South Africa, Mozambique, Zambia and Botswana, ranging from semi-desert to acacia thorn bush, open savannah, mountains and forest.
No effort is spared to obtain the finest possible trophies for you .
SEASON
Hunting safaris are undertaken throughout the year. The best months are from April to October.
Photographic safaris are undertaken the whole year around. The winter months June-August are very good for game viewing because it is dry. September – November is stunning springtime. December-February is our summer, raining season, warm but beautiful. It rains in short and welcome showers, if we don't have draughts. March-May is our late summer, autumn, wonderful time of the year, lush and cooler.
ACCOMMODATION
Iwamanzi Game Lodge is our home base and one of the most stunning lodges in Africa. Besides that we use thatched hunting lodges and tented safari camps. All accommodation is of a high standard with private en-suite facilities,220 volt electricity, hot and cold running water, flush toilets, comfortable beds and mosquito nets. Your camp personnel, from cooks to trackers and skinners, are well qualified to handle the most demanding situation. Rest assured you are in very capable hands.
TRANSPORT
Meticulously maintained four-wheel drive vehicles are used in the hunting areas. Each fitted with the latest equipment, which includes a power-winch, an advanced first-aid kit and cooler-boxes with ice.
All vehicles have GPS and Satellite tracking for your safety.
ON YOUR ARRIVAL WE WILL BE THERE!
You fly into Johannesburg International Airport (O.R. Tambo Int. Airport) where we, Jacqueline or Stan, will be waiting to welcome you and escort you directly to the South African Police Department to clear your rifles and take you to your first hunting destination.
If you choose to hunt in a neighboring country we will make all the arrangements for you and escort you there and back.
PASSPORT and VISA REQUIREMENTS
Valid passport and entry visas are required for entry in South Africa. Your passport needs to be valid for at least 6 months and needs 3 unused pages for stamps or visa. Customs and Immigration will issue a tourist visa for three months on arrival in South Africa, free of charge. (Some countries need visa to be arranged before hand.)
HEALTH REQUIREMENTS, MEDICATION AND FITNESS
In some area 's it is recommended to take malaria prophylaxis although in most of South Africa this is not necessary. For Mozambique, Zambia and Botswana precautions against malaria is essential. We will advise you accordingly. You need to inform us about any medical condition or medication taken, dietary requirements, before you arrive in South Africa. Bring sufficient supplies of your medication. You should be in reasonably good shape as hunting can be physically demanding and you will enjoy your hunt even more if you are fit.
TERMS OF PAYMENT
U$ 1500 per person to confirm a plains game safari and 50% of the safari cost to confirm a big five safari.
Deposits are not refundable, but are transferable to other available dates.
All prices quoted are based on the exchange rate of the Rand versus the US$ at the time the rates were established. If the exchange rate changes of the Rand versus Dollar/Euro, up or down, we reserve the rights to adjust rates as necessary.
LIABILITY
Although we carry personal liability, business liability and other insurances, we strongly recommend that clients take full personal and personal effects cover for the duration of the safari, including:
· trip cancellation
· medical and emergency evacuation
· loss of personal effects
· accidental death and disability
WEAPONS AND AMMUNITION
We prefer you to bring your own weapons with which you are familiar. Rifles and shotguns are available for hire at U$ 100 per safari. Ammunition will be supplied at cost. Recommended amount of ammo for a 7 days safari and more: for plains game 40 rounds of soft and for dangerous game safari 60 softs and 40 solids.
Recommended rifles for plains game any calibre from .270 to .338 Win-mag with premium quality bullets.
For dangerous game 375 or bigger is mandatory.
Bird hunters may use 20gg or 12gg shot guns. Ammunition is freely available in South Africa.
Firearm regulations:
No semi – automatic rifles or shotguns are permitted.
Not more than one firearm per calibre is permitted
No more than 100 rounds of ammunition per firearm
Importation of Firearms
Visitors bring in firearms into South Africa for hunting purposes should try to obtain a copy of the Temporary Firearm Import Applications – SAP 520 in advance from their hunting outfitter, and complete this form before arrival in South Africa. This is recommended if possible to help streamline the entry process. The form however can be filled out on arrival. The form must be completed in black ink and left unsigned until the document is finalised in front of the police official issuing the actual permit at the airport. www.saps.co.za
Required along with the SAP 520 will be the following:
· Passport and a copy of the passport (certified)
· Return tickets to country of origin
· Proof of ownership (In the case of US citizens a 4457 certificate that can be obtain form your local customs office).
· SAP520 form that is completed in the necessary blocks. The client must NOT sign this document at home but in the presence of the police officer at the airport. Complete this document in BLACK INK.
· Letter of invitation from the outfitter, with all contact details
· Copy of the outfitters license, without a licensed outfitter, it is illegal to hunt in SA
